Tanzanian musical sensation, Juma Jux, just got married to a Nigerian Priscilla Ojo. At the same time, Wasafi Media is in the eye of the storm after the icon of the entertainment gossip, Juma Lokole, was allegedly suspended for reasons remotely linked to this marriage. Believe it or not, a saying that forewarns us to be careful of what we wish for ourselves because it may happen could be very applicable to Lokole. Somehow one man’s wish materialized in a manner that keeps many tongues wagging, setting conspiracy theories ablaze in the social media.

Yes, Jux (full name Juma Jux ) is a popular Tanzanian musician, singer, and songwriter. He is well-known in the Bongo Flava genre, which blends hip-hop, R&B, reggae, and traditional Tanzanian music. Jux has gained significant fame for his smooth vocals, romantic lyrics, and collaborations with other East African artists. Some of his hit songs include “Sugu”, “Enjoy”, and “Wivu”. He is also recognized for his unique style and contributions to the East African music scene.

Jux was born Juma Musa Mkambala on 1 September 1989, in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. He developed an interest in music at a young age and began his career in the mid-2000s. Initially, he gained recognition as a rapper which was a stepping stone for his solo career. Jux is known for his **smooth, soulful voice** and his ability to blend genres like Bongo Flava, R&B, Afrobeat, and reggae. His music often revolves around themes of **love, relationships, and everyday life**, making him a favorite for romantic and emotional tracks. He has been influenced by both local Tanzanian sounds and international artists, creating a unique style that appeals to a wide audience.

He started his musical career in 2005 at the age of 16 as a rapper. In 2008 Jux joined Cyril Kamikaze and Niga Flo to form “Wakacha” band becoming the vice president of the group. Later he became a solo artist and his first track at AM record label “Nimedata” where he transformed from rap to R’n’B star. His first release “Nimedata was recorded and released in 2010. “Nimedata” struggled to catch the imagination of musical fans partly due to lack of quality, flimsy advertisement and Jux at that epoch was not a household name. “Nimedata” is an appreciation of a woman’s beauty that got his attention to the extent that he was hooked completely. “Nimedata” received combined views of about 100,000 on YouTube.

After that, he came out with “Napata raha” which did much better in the market. “Napata raha” was an upgrade of “Nimedata”. The lyrics are very similar albeit there are more gesticulations and crooning in the second release. “Nitasubiri” solidified his solo musical career, and after this song he needed no further introduction to musical fans. “Nitasubiri” has received over 975,000 views on YouTube.

Jux rose to fame with his debut solo album, “King of Hearts“, which established him as a leading artist in Tanzania. Some of his most popular songs include: “Sugua” (featuring Diamond Platnumz) – A massive hit that showcased his ability to create catchy, relatable music. Ah, “Sugua“! This is one of **Jux’s** most iconic songs and a massive hit in

Tanzania and across East Africa. “Sugua”* remains one of Jux’s most-streamed songs (13 million views on YouTube) and a staple in East African playlists. It helped cement Jux’s position as one of Tanzania’s leading artists and amplified his ability to create hits that resonate with a wide audience. “Enjoy” – A romantic track that became an anthem for lovers. “Enjoy” remains his biggest hit to date engrossing over 114 million views on YouTube. “Wivu” – A collaboration with Shetta, addressing themes of jealousy in relationships. “Wivu” has 5.1 million views on YouTube. “Again” – A heartfelt song about the hazards of infatuation. “Again” has 3.9 views on YouTube. “Utaniua”  – A feel-good track that became a fan favorite. “Utaniua” – has 6.6 million views on YouTube. “Utaniua” is a romantic lamentation song of a man who struggles and carries out an agonizing personal inquisition of how and what he has to do to please his gal. “Lala – A Rayvanny song in collaboration with Jux. “Lala” engrossed 13 million views on YouTube. Lala is the least acknowledged song that brought the high-pitched falsetto of Jux who is rarely appreciated for his vocal maestro. It remains my second favorite song from him after “Enjoy”. “Nisiulizwe” has 13 million views on YouTube. “Regina” a collaboration between Otille Brown and Jux has over 22 million views on YouTube.

Jux has worked with some of the biggest names in East African music, including Diamond Platnumz (Tanzania), Rayvanny (Tanzania), Otille Brown (Kenya), among others. These collaborations have helped him expand his reach beyond Tanzania and into the broader East African and African music markets. Jux has been nominated for and won several awards, including: Tanzania Music Awards, African Muzik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA), and Kilimanjaro Music Awards. His consistent delivery of hit songs has earned him a loyal fan base and critical acclaim.

Jux is known for keeping his personal life relatively private, but he occasionally shares glimpses of his life on social media. He is a fashion enthusiast and is often seen sporting stylish outfits, which has made him a trendsetter in Tanzania. Jux continues to release new music and collaborate with other artists. His recent tracks and features keep him relevant in the ever-evolving music industry. He is also active on social media, engaging with fans and promoting his work.

After getting to some tidbits about Jux’s music career, it is time to place a spotlight on his private life focusing entirely on his wedding. When Jux and his love Priscilla Ajoke Ojo videos began circulating on social media, the couple sauntering in Naijaland holding hands, everybody familiar with his works was thrilled and wanted to know what was going on. Later, we came to learn it was a parental introduction of Jux to the family of Priscilla. Priscilla was seen at Murtala Muhammed International Airport accompanied by a dancing troupe to welcome Jux. Both momentarily were caught in the frenzy of hugging, embracing, kissing, and joining the ngoma band to dance. The couple couldn’t keep their hands apart from each other, so to speak. Swiftly, fancy cars whisked them to an unknown destination.

Before we acclimatised ourselves with what was really happening we were inside what we later came to know was Jux’s inlaws mansion. According to the Yoruba customs, Jux could not be allowed to enter Priscilla’s mom’s house without parting with something. He placed a couple of greenbacks on a mat near the door. Later back in Tanzania, newspeople enquired from Jux whether he was planning to marry Priscilla, Jux was circumspect and dismissed the matter as premature.

Then on February 7, 2025, Priscilla Ojo and Jux officially tied the knot in an Islamic wedding ceremony held in Tanzania. The intimate event was graced by close friends, family members, and notable celebrities, including social media influencer Enioluwa Adeoluwa and Tanzanian music superstar Diamond Platnumz. Priscilla’s mother, Iyabo Ojo, expressed her joy and excitement about the union, revealing in an interview that she had always encouraged her daughter to marry early. The wedding was a grand celebration of love, culture, and unity between Nigeria and Tanzania.

Who is Priscilla Ajoke Ojo?

Priscilla Ajoke Ojo, born on March 13, 2001, in Lagos, Nigeria, is a Nigerian actress, media personality, and entrepreneur. She is widely known as the daughter of renowned Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo. Over the years, she has built her own identity in the entertainment and fashion industries, gaining popularity as a social media influencer and entrepreneur. Her mom Iyabo married Ademidun Ojo, a clearing and forwarding agent operating at Tincan Island, Lagos, in 1999, when she was 21. Priscilla’s parents later divorced, and her mom attributed marrying too young at the age of 21 years being the main reason leading to the divorce. Her daughter who is 24 years old when she got married shouldn’t be carrying bad karma over that, though.

Alice Iyabo Ojo, the mom of Priscilla (born 21 December 1977) is a prominent Nigerian film actress, director, and producer popularly known for her contributions to the Nollywood film industry. She has featured in over 150 films and has produced more than 14 of her own. Last November, the actress, who now stars in the “Real Housewives of Lagos” reality show, hinted at a possible relationship with a mystery lover on her Instagram page.

The father’s absence, estranged from the family since his divorce from Iyabo Ojo, has sparked speculation online. Many suggest that he may not have been invited due to his lack of involvement in Priscilla’s upbringing. Speaking about the divorce in the past, actress Iyabo Ojo disclosed that her children only became aware of her divorce after Priscilla turned 15. She explained that she ensured her children never felt the absence of their father as she made them believe he was a frequent traveler. Priscilla herself credited her mother for filling the void left by her father in an interview where she admitted she initially struggled with “daddy issues.” “My mum did everything perfectly,” she said, praising her mother.

The wedding, which was held in Tanzania, was conducted per Tanzanian customs and traditions. Since tying the knot, Priscilla has flooded her Instagram page with breathtaking photos of herself at the ceremony, in which she wore a stylish gold outfit. Interestingly, her Instagram page has grown from a mere 268, 000 followers when Jux came into her life to over 3.1 million adoring fans when I was writing this article. Equally amazing, Jux’s YouTube account has remained stagnating at 1.5 million followers. Today, I will skip the discussion on the reasons why Priscilla’s profile has boomed while Jux’s remains indifferent. There is always next time to tie the loose ends…In a heartfelt tribute, Priscilla’s best friend, Enioluwa, penned an emotional letter congratulating the newlywed couple as he reminisced about their friendship. He offered words of wisdom, urging Priscilla to cherish her marriage and hold onto her partner forever.

How does this wedding rock Wasafi Media?

Well, it may have escaped the attention of many that the king of Entertainment gossip in Tanzania, Juma Lokole, had taken an unsolicited vow to get axed by Wasafi if Jux ever married Priscilla. Then if you believe everything that is said in the social media platforms, Lokole got his prayer answered. Those who boast to have their “ears on the ground” claim Lokole’s troubles began and ended with attempting to answer why Zuchu and Diamond Platnumz will never tie the knot of their own. The grapevine continued to gossip that Zuchu asked for Juma Lokole’s head on the platter for his incendiary remarks or she would quit Wasafi for good. Everybody knows these days Zuchu and Wasafi are synonymous. Without Zuchu, Wasafi is an empty shell, so to speak. Zuchu got her wish, and Lokole is, allegedly, on the streets looking for a new job.

My crystal eyeball jolts me, Lokole, too has two powerful advocates inside Wasafi in mama Dangote and her beloved daughter Esma. The duo could be having sleepless nights on how to fix Zuchu who now seems to wield too much power at Wasafi. They had won the battle against Zuchu before with the return to Wasafi of Aliyah who had faced the ire of Zuchu over the intricacies with Diamonds Platnumz. Mama Dangote and Esma will never rest until Lokole is back at “mashamsham” dishing out his latest “ubuyu”. Those who crave a next fix to lick from Lokole’s “ubuyu” may not have to wait that long. He could be back in a few weeks. I could be outright wrong over this but nobody stops me from speculating out aloud.

Hopefully, once back clutching a Wasafi mic, Lokole would have learned some personalities at Wasafi are simply too “untouchable”. Differentiating “errors of attribution” from reality is all Juma Lokole has to carefully learn, and learn extremely fast. Not everything you see is “black and white”. The fewer revelations the better for everybody. The more cryptic the innuendos are, the more they serenade many observers in this particular case. But can outspoken Lokole adapt when seminal friends are flanking him left and right? What I can tentatively attest we have seen nothing yet over this imploding saga.

For now, I refuse to be drawn into the dynamics behind what is unfolding at Wasafi because I love tying the loose ends when more juices flow my way….It is too early for that.
